September 11th, 2001 marks a day that United States Citizens and many others worldwide will never forget. It is the day in which terrorists decided that the World Trade Center in New York, NY; the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; and a plane with an unknown destination would end approximately 6,000 + lives. The United States has never seemed to have more unity than at this time. Everyone is proud to be an American. Every citizen of this country seems to have placed a higher value on life. President Bush made this statement before the U.S. Congress as reported by the Washington Post: “Americans have known surprise attacks, but never before on thousands of civilians.” Well, in 1996 there were 1,365,730 deaths in the United States according to: (http://wwww.lifecorner.org). That is an average of 3,742 per day. The only difference is that our country allows by law these 3,742 deaths per day while the attacks of September 11th, 2001 are "acts of war". Some might argue that there were many important people on those planes or in those buildings that will change many things in American life. How about all those innocent 3,000 plus children murdered today who we cannot say what they would have been because they never had the chance to show us. From a biblical perspective, what if Jeremiah would have never been born? It was not once Jeremiah reached 20 years old that God decided he would use him. (Jeremiah 1:5) “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Let’s even bring this more to a current day question: What if you mother would not have chosen life?
What Law Was Passed to Allow the Murdering of Babies?
1. January 22, 1973 - The Supreme
Court decision in Roe vs. Wade legalized abortion in the United States.
2. The Decision concerned an
abortion law from the state of Texas.
3. Abortion was declared a "fundamental
right," making it very difficult for states to limit abortions.
4. The 14th amendment to the
constitution was the basis for its decision: "No person can be denied life,
liberty, or property
without due process of law." Pro-life
people were trying to use this same amendment to stop abortions.
The decision:
A.
The Constitution does not clearly define "person;"
B.
When "person" was used in the Constitution, it was almost always in the
context of someone who was already born.
C.
Throughout the major portion of the 19th Century, prevailing abortion practices
were far freer than at the time of the decision.
What Does the Bible Teach About Abortion?
Does God view an unborn child as a human being or would he refer to an unborn child, as does the medical field as a “fetus”? He not only views an unborn child as an infant, but the record indicates that he knows them (Jeremiah 1:5). It would do a great justice to would be mothers if they walked into a clinic and had to read what God says on this matter. Maybe, just maybe that would drop the rate of legal murders in this country. In the next text we will look at, we are in need of noticing again what the Holy Writ calls an unborn infant. The infant is not called “fetus”, or any other medical term. (Luke 1:40-41) “And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb…” Abortion is so easy to have done that some women use it as a form of birth control. Where has this world’s morals gone? They have gone by the way side, and the word of God has been placed on the shelf under the immoral magazines. The Bible is just being used as a source of collection. Not a source of information collection but rather dust collection. Remember, two patients enter into an abortion clinic and one comes out!
In our country if a drunk driver is
at fault in an accident involving a woman who is pregnant, that drunk driver
would be charged with TWO counts of manslaughter. Why? The
principle of that law is even found in God’s law. (Exodus 21:22)
“If
men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit
depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished,
according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as
the judges determine.” Notice, God say with “child”. He
did not use the term “fetus”. He did not make an infant a clinical
object. He noticed in His term used a child, a life. In Genesis
25:21-22 Rebekah was pregnant with “children” [see Hosea 12:3 as well].
Job, through inspiration, stated that he was a child at conception, not
birth! (Job 3:3) “Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the
night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.”
Life begins at conception! It is time for Americans to turn and recognize
what life truly is, and that this life will end and we are to make our
preparations for one of two destinations in eternity (Matthew 25:46).
The whole duty of man is to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes
12:13).
