REMEMBER TO PRAISE GOD

(Psalms 148:11-13) “Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth: Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children: Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.”  One of the brightest moments for a Christian is to give praise and glory to the Lord.  We have the moments when we meet and we worship him.  The question that I would like to pose is how often to your pay tribute to the Lord and praise to him?  Do you wait until the first day of the week?  Do you only remember him on the first day of the week?  Do you even have problems on the first day of the week remembering and praising him?

Let me try and remind you why you should remember to praise God and not make it a ritual but a privilege.  God created everything.  (Genesis 1:1) “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”  He created man and woman.  (Genesis 1:26-28) “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”  One of the reasons most of all is because he gave his son to die that we might have life eternal.  (John 3:16) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”   We must remember this most of all.   (Romans 5:6-11) “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”

Some might wonder if they praise God enough that they will have earned forgiveness.  The misconception that most have in this statement is that no matter how much you praise him, you must be obedient to his word (Matthew 7:21).  Notice this passage: (Romans 6:16-17) “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.”  Notice that Paul, by inspiration, told the Church at Rome that he was thankful that they obeyed the doctrine delivered to them.  If there are those that do not obey righteousness then they obey sin that will lead to death.  That is clear enough for us all to see.  We must obey him and praise him.

The problem really that exist with those who do not praise God enough is that they simply do not dedicate themselves properly to him.  They do not consider that fact that without the Son nothing would have been made and without him we would lack the salvation that is ours to grasp.  (John 1:1-5) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”  The next time you forget to remember God, remember that without him, you simply would not be! – B.A.Y.

A Question and Answer
This week I was asked a question from a visitor to our web site and I thought it was a question and answer worth sharing.  This young lady wrote me and asked: “Why do you teach that baptism is commanded when the Bible does not say that?  Jesus tells us to accept him into our hearts in Revelation 3:20.  Would you please answer me why?”

My answer: “ Dear __________:
I appreciate your question and I will love to answer it.  Let me first comment on the verse you mentioned.  Revelation 3:20 is in a context of passages speaking to Christians at the church in Laodicea.  These folks had been baptized.  We can know this because the only way to get into the church (the body of Christ Colossians 1:18) is to be baptized into it (I Corinthians 12:12-13).  Secondly, in this passage the Christians (not the lost) were told one verse earlier that they must repent (Revelation 3:19).  Is that not more than accepting Jesus into your heart?  Let me ask will you please go to this link and do this Bible study? - http://www.wordsoftruth.net/biblestudypage1.htm

I will also add that Jesus did command baptism (John 3:3-5).  Jesus shed His blood for the remission of our sins (Matthew 26:28).  The only way to have our sins remitted is through baptism (Acts 2:38).  You might also note that Peter (an inspired Apostle) commanded baptism (Acts 10:47-48).  Please study this and do the Bible study course linked above.”  Let’s pray that this young lady will study God’s word.  – B.A.Y

What Must I Do to Be Saved?
Hear and believe the Gospel (Mark 16:15-16), repent of their sins (Acts 3:19), confess Christ (Acts 8:37), and be baptized (immersed) for the remission of sins into the church (Acts 2:38, I Corinthians 12:12-13, and Galatians 6:3-5).  One must then remain faithful (Revelation 2:10).
