(I Corinthians 10:31 and I Peter 4:11)
(Romans 10:11) “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” After the Apostle Paul writes that we believe with our hearts and confess Christ with our mouths (Romans 10:10), he pens this fabulous verse that is our subject matter in this article. If you believe in Christ you will not be ashamed of Christ. If you are not ashamed of the Lord you will have no problem confessing him before men. It is important to have the kind of faith that will allow you to confess Christ before men. It is required of us that we continually confess him before men: (Matthew 10:32-33) “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” The Apostle Paul is a great example of one who had faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Paul Was Not Ashamed
(Romans 1:15-16) “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Paul’s confidence in Christ is evident through his actions. He was not ashamed to preach the Gospel of Christ because he believed in it. He believed that men would be saved through preaching it (James 1:21). It was because of Paul’s conviction that he was willing to be persecuted that he might be able to continue preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ (II Corinthians 6:1-11, II Corinthians 11:24-28, and II Timothy 4:6-8). Paul was not ashamed because he believed wholeheartedly in the Lord!
Are You Ashamed?
There are only three explanations that I can think of showing why a child of God would not be out declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are:
1. They are ashamed of Christ, because they have no faith (Romans 10:11).So, if we are lacking in our efforts we need to circle in our minds which of the above is the reason we are not working and begin to fix it before it is too late.
2. They are unable to teach because they themselves lack in knowledge (Hebrews 5:12-14).
3. Apathy, which once again is a faith issue. We will not sit on our behinds doing nothing if we truly believed our lack of action would have us burn in hell eternally (Matthew 25:14-30).
Conclusion
True faith brings forth
action (Hebrews 11:4-38 and James 2:14-26). We walk by faith (II
Corinthians 5:7). So ask yourself: If true faith brings action and
I am not working, do I really have faith? Ask yourself another question:
If faith is what I am to walk by, and I have no faith, can I claim to be
able to walk spiritually? If you have faith in our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ you will not have any second thoughts about declaring Him
and His truth. We can be bold and confident if we have true faith
in our Lord (Ephesians 3:12). Are you bold and confident? The
only way to fix the problem of shame is to fix the lack of faith.
The only way to fix the lack of faith is to get into the word of God and
learn (Romans 10:17 and II Timothy 2:15).
