I. Introduction:
    A. We’ve talked of the proper mindsets for joy in the kingdom (Romans
    8:6-7 and II Corinthians 10:5).

    B.  Now, let’s talk about some actions (John 15:8, Galatians 6:3-5,
    Ephesians 2:10, and Titus 3:8).
    1. How good of an example should we all be (Philippians 3:17)?
    2. What is the better law of the Old and New (Hebrews 8:6; 12:24)?

II. Body: Matthew 5:13-19
    Verse 13: Genesis 18:20-32, Jeremiah 5:1, Luke 14:34-35, and
    Colossians 4:6.

    Verses 14-16: Psalms 18:28, Psalms 119:105, Proverbs 13:9, Isaiah 62:
    1, II Corinthians 4:3-6, Ephesians 5:8-14, Philippians 2:15-16, I
    Thessalonians 5:1-9, I Peter 2:11-12, and I John 1:7; 2:9-10; cf. John 1:4-
    9; 3:19-21; 8:12; 12:35-36.  Caution: II Corinthians 11:12-15 and Isaiah 5:
    20
    •        We cannot be hid: Isaiah 43:21 and I Peter 2:9.
    •        Glorify the Father, not self: Matthew 6:2; 6:5; 6:7-8, Matthew
    23:1-5, Acts 12:21-23, Psalms 108:5, Psalms 111:2-3, Romans 16:
    27, I Corinthians 10:31, and Ephesians 3:20-21.
    •        To be a light we’ve had to turn from darkness (Acts 26:18; cf.
    Romans 13:12).

Verse 17: Not destroyed (Romans 15:4 and I Corinthians 10:1-11; cf.
    Ephesians 2:11-17), fulfilled (Luke 24:44, John 15:25, Acts 13:27-33, I
    Corinthians 15:1-4, and Ephesians 2:11-17).

Verse 18: The teachings of the N.T. had begun (Luke 16:16), but the law
was still in full effect, not one small detail was done [important to note
that the Gospel’s were written AFTER Jesus died, thus they are in effect
now] (Romans 7:1-6, Colossians 2:13-17, and Hebrews 9:15-17).
    •        We must remember the superiority of Christ over Moses and
all those who penned the Old Law (Matthew 28:18, John 5:22-23,
    Colossians 1:16-18, Hebrews 1:1-8, and Hebrews 3:1-6).

Verse 19: Since the Law was still in effect, you’d be held in not esteem
for breaking and teaching error on one of the smallest details of the
law.  You have to keep the whole until it is done away (Deuteronomy 4:
    2, Deuteronomy 12:32, Proverbs 30:5-6, Malachi 2:9, and Matthew 23:23-
    24; cf. I Timothy 5:21).

III. Conclusion: John 5:28-29 and Galatians 6:7-8
