I. Introduction: Again, remember we are continuing from last week and
talking about The “Beatitudes” [a state of utmost bliss] (Psalms 144:15).

II. Body: Matthew 5:3-7
    Verse 3: Isaiah 66:2, Luke 18:9-14, Proverbs 16:19; 29:23, Isaiah 57:15,
    and Colossians 3:12.

    Verse 4: James 4:6-10, II Corinthians 1:3-5; 4-7, and I Thessalonians 4:
    18; 5:11; cf. Psalms 144:15.

Verse 5: Those inheriting the earth - Psalms 37:9-13; cf. II Peter 3:9-12 –
“meek” [praus; “mild; humble”] from Strong’s 4239 appears two other
    times: Matthew 21:5 and I Peter 3:4.
    •        Those who tie meekness to being weak or overly kind have
missed who Jesus is (Luke 11:38-40; 13:14-16).
    •        Consider Moses as well as a meek individual, but not in the
terms most often define this point (Numbers 12:3; Exodus 32:19-
    28).
    •        We are to exhibit meekness: Galatians 5:23, Galatians 6:1,
    Colossians 3:12, I Timothy 6:11-12, and Titus 3:1-2).

    Verse 6: Psalms 42:1-2; 106:3; 107:8-9; 119:172, Isaiah 55:1-3, Luke 10:
    38-42, and I Peter 2:1-2.

    Verse 7: Matthew 18:21-35, Mark 11:25-26, Luke 17:3-4, and James 3:14-
    18; cf. Ephesians 5:1; 2:4.
    •        Consider God’s wisdom in how to teach one to be merciful
    (Hebrews 2:17-18).

III. Conclusion: Colossians 1:23
