Another Outline from Brian A. Yeager
They Ignored the Prophets

Introduction:

A. People came to Jesus:
1. To see miracles done by Him (Matthew 15:30-31 / CF. Mark 1:30-45).
2. To kill Him (John 7:1).
3. To be fed physically by Him (John 6:26-27).
4. To see signs from Him (Matthew 12:38-40).
5. But, while many wanted to see, few wanted to follow and few will their always be (Luke 13:23-24).
B. The problem – people are not truly interested in knowing or doing all of what God said:
1. The interest in Jesus is / was just like the WWJD fad, quickly coming and quickly going away (John 6:64-69).
2. The word of God has no place in those who reject the need for a Savior (John 8:32-37).
3. Then and today they wanted to see Jesus, but they did not desire to follow Him.
C. The scriptures upon which today’s lesson will be based: (Matthew 16:1-4 and Luke 12:54-56).
1. People are aware of what they are looking for, but blinded to what they close their eyes against (Matthew 13:13-17).
2. God was very clear in foretelling about the coming of the Messiah, but people are not always willing to listen to what God says is going to happen.
3. Notice how clear God was as we examine just a few of many prophesies concerning Jesus Christ and their fulfillments.
