Text: Luke 10:30-37 Reason the parable was taught: A conversation with a lawyer. The lawyer came and asked Jesus: “…Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life” (Luke 10:25). The record states that this lawyer “tempted” [tested] Jesus. Jesus answered the question with a question Luke 10:26. The lawyer answered the question and tried to justify himself by asking Jesus “who is my neighbor” (Luke 10:27-29). The Road to Jericho: A road known as the “bloody way”, known for robbery. I. The Good Samaritan – How a Christian would respond A. Even though the Jews were no friend of the Samaritan [mixture of a Jew and a Gentile] the “Good Samaritan” had the right attitude Galatians 6:10 “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”Conclusion: Who is our neighbor? He who is in need - Luke 10:37 “And he said, He that shewed mercy on him.
