2. What did Ishmael do at the feast thrown at the time Isaac was weaned and what was his punishment?

into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will
    tell thee of” (Genesis 22:2).

    and James 2:21-23).

6. Where did Abraham want to bury Sarah and how much did he pay for that place?
    •        He wanted to bury Sarah out of his sight (Genesis 23:4), the cave of Machpelah (Genesis 23:
    9).
    •        The owner would have given Abraham the cave and the field in which the cave was, but
Abraham paid the market value of four hundred shekels of silver (Genesis 23:11-16).

7. Of what descendants did Abraham wish Isaac to have a wife?
    •        From Abraham’s country (Genesis 24:4) which was Haran (Genesis 11:31; 12:1; 4) a city in
    northern Mesopotamia.
    •        When we read of the city of Nahor, we are talking about a person, not a city.  Nahor was
    Abraham’s brother (Genesis 11:26; 22:19-20).

even to Mary, the mother of Jesus, God is the giver of life (Psalms 127:3 and Jeremiah 1:5)!

13. What division existed in Isaac’s home?
    •        Isaac loved Esau while Rebekah loved Jacob (Genesis 25:28).

14. What did Esau sell Jacob and why did he sell it to him?
    •        He sold his birthright so that he may have food to live (Genesis 25:29-34; cf. Hebrews 12:15-
    17).

15. Why does what occurred with Isaac and Abimelech sound familiar?
    •        Because Abimelech was in a similar situation with Abraham not owning up to Sarah being his
wife, but telling a half truth in claiming her as his sister (Genesis 20:2-7; 26:7-11).

16. What did Esau do to cause grief for his mother and father?

20. What was Jacob instructed to do by his father Isaac?
    •        Since Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob
take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what
good shall my life do me?”  Isaac told Jacob “Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from
thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.  And God Almighty bless thee, and make
thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people; And give thee the blessing
of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a
stranger, which God gave unto Abraham” (Genesis 27:46-28:4).

    •        Seven years (Genesis 29:16-19).

24. Was Laban honest with Jacob?
    •        No, he gave him Leah instead with a promise that after seven more years he could then have
    Rachel (Genesis 29:21-28).
    •        Sadly, this would set up a bad situation because of the great love Jacob had for Rachel
(Genesis 29:20).  Such would later be settled by the Lord (Genesis 31:7-13).

25. What did the Lord do since Jacob loved Rachel more?
    •        God shut Rachel’s womb and gave children through the womb of Leah (Genesis 29:31).

26. What do you notice about the names of the children of Jacob?
    •        They are the names of the tribes of Israel (Numbers 1:5-15), except for Levi and Joseph.  Levi
would be the priesthood (Numbers 1:49-50) and Joseph’s sons would get his share (Numbers 26:28).

27. What plan did Rachel make to have children, prior to her womb being opened by God?
    •        She gave her handmaid Bilhah to Jacob to bear children on her behalf (Genesis 30:1-5).

28. What son did Rachel bear herself?
    •        Joseph (Genesis 30:22-24).

29. Why did Laban want Jacob to stay?
    •        Because he perceived God blessed him for the sake of Jacob (Genesis 30:26-27).

    •        Yes, (Genesis 30:43).
