Glory To God

TextI Corinthians 10:31“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

Introduction: Glory defined: “Honor; Praise, or worship”.Our goal in this lesson is to learn how we can give glory to the almighty God.

I.We should give glory to God because

A.God demands glory I Chronicles 16:34-35“34. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.35. And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.”

1.Creation shows the glory of God Psalms 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

2.Glory to God must be above all Psalms 57:5;11“5. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.”“11. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.”

3.Let all the people praise Him Psalms 67:3-7“3. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.4. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. 5. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 6. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.7. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.”

B.Glory should be given to God because He blessed us spirituallyEphesians 1:3-6“3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”

1.To show our appreciationPsalms 100:1-5

2.Our spiritual blessings were promised in the Old Testament Acts 3:25“Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.”

a.Promise was made to Abraham Genesis 22:18“And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”

b.Continued to Isaac Genesis 26:1-5

c.Fulfilled Matthew 1:1;21-23

C.Our spiritual blessings are in Christ Romans 3:24“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

1.Let us see who is blessed Matthew 5:1-12

2.Nothing should be able to separate us from our Lord Romans 8:38-39“38. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

3.We inherit the blessings promised through Abraham Galatians 3:23-29

4.Every good gift is from above James 1:17

5.Our blessings include a spiritual home II Corinthians 5:1-7

II.Examples of those that gave glory to God

A.A man who did not forget who blessed him Luke 17:11-19

B.David II Samuel 22:1-4

C.Christ John 17:1-4

D.Paul Philippians 3:7-9

III.All have come short of the glory of God

A.All have fallen short Romans 3:23“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

B.Only exception is children Ezekiel 18:20“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.”

1.We are to be converted and become as little children (not little sinners) Matthew 18:3“And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

2.We are to strive to be “child like” Mark 10:13-16

Conclusion:

Let’s look at what happened to Herod when he failed in giving glory to God for setting Peter free Acts 12:1-23The choice is simple, repent I John1:9 or choose not to Luke 13:3
