Falling From Grace
Introduction: Grace is such a topic that is always viewed differently by different religious bodies. Yet, often times folks fail to recognize that man cannot define God’s terms. No matter what some man teaches if it varies from what the Bible teaches it is false doctrine. Following man rather than God makes it impossible to be the servant of Jesus Christ Galatians 1:10. In this lesson we are going to look at what Grace is as well as how it is possible to fall from it. This lesson will show that we are not "Once Saved, Always Saved".
I.   What is Grace?
Greek word "charis" defined: Unmerited Favor; freely given (we have done nothing to earn).

Salvation is a gift that we must be humble in receiving. Ephesians 2:8-9 "8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. 9. Not of works, lest any man should boast. "
Romans 3:24 "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."

II.   We are saved by Grace, but not Grace Alone
Titus 2:11-12 "11. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world."

Hebrews 2:9 "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."

Acts 20:32 "And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified."

We must obey – II Thessalonians 1:7-9 "7. And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8. In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9. Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power."

III.   We can fall from Grace
Hebrews 10:38-39 "38. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."

Romans 6:1-2 "1. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?"

Galatians 5:4 "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."

Galatians 6:7-8 "6. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

I Corinthians 9:27 "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."

I Corinthians 10:12 "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall."

The Vine and the Branches John 15:1-11

II Peter 2:20-22 "20. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, the dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

Conclusion: I Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
