Having Faith Whereby You May Cast Your Cares Upon the Lord

Introduction:
A. Too often we get the “I’ll go it alone” attitude: John 15:1-11 (emphasis v.5)
1. We cannot go it alone: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
2. God wants to help us: Romans 8:32
3. We should sound like the Psalmist: Psalms 7:1
B. We have to realize that we cannot control tomorrow:
1. Matthew 6:34
2. Proverbs 27:1
I. We Need to Learn to Cast Our Cares [Concerns, Anxieties] Upon the Lord
A. As God’s children we are instructed to cast our cares upon Him:
1. Psalms 55:22
2. Philippians 4:6-7
3. I Peter 5:7
B. The Lord cares for His people:
1. When no one else will: Psalms 27:10
2. Greater than a mother for her child: Isaiah 49:15
3. Like a husband who would give his life for his wife: Ephesians 5:25
C. God knows what we need better than we do:
1. Matthew 6:7-8
2. Matthew 6:31-32
II. Have Faith That God Will Help You
A. Sometimes a lack of faith will keep us from casting our cared upon the Lord:
1. In a lack of faith we often trust in uncertain things: Psalms 20:7-8
2. Jeremiah 17:7-8
3. Sometimes we will go to God, but in doubt instead of faith: James 1:6-7
4. We must go to God in faith for help: Matthew 21:22
B. Our faithfulness is rewarded by God’s providence:
1. I Chronicles 28:9
2. Psalms 103:11-13
3. Luke 12:22-31
4. Romans 8:28
III. Don’t Think For A Minute That the World is Your Friend in a Time of Crisis
A. Learn now that you are not of this world and therefore not readily welcomed:
1. John 15:19
2. Jesus said of His disciples: John 17:14
3. I John 2:15
4. I John 3:1
B. What does it say of us when we trust in those of this world more than God?
1. Of Judah and king Hezekiah God said: II Kings 18:21; cf. Isaiah 36:6
a. Isaiah 31:1

3. Jeremiah 17:5
Conclusion:
A. God will not allow us to tried by more than we can handle: I Corinthians 10:13
B. The Lord is our helper: Hebrews 13:5-6
