I. Introduction: John 1:29; 34-36
A. Christ was foretold to be as a lamb (Isaiah 53:6-7; cf. Acts 8:32-35).
1. Jesus understood His mission (Matthew 20:17-19; cf. Acts 3:12-18).
2. For our sakes, He saw it through (II Corinthians 8:9; cf. Hebrews 2:9-
10; 9:13-15).
B. It was man’s faults that brought the need of a Savior (Romans 5:14-19 and
I Corinthians 15:21-22; cf. Ecclesiastes 7:29 and Ezekiel 28:15).
1. Though sin was of man, salvation is of God (I Thessalonians 5:8-9).
2. The sins of man caused the death of the just one (I Peter 3:18).
II. Body: Christ, the Lamb of God, is greatly misunderstood (Matthew 15:12-16,
Mark 8:14-21, and Luke 24:44-45).
A. People perceive our Savior to be a weak lamb (Matthew 26:51-54; 27:29-
44).
1. He is also as a lion (Revelation 5:5-6).
2. Try painting this picture of Jesus (Revelation 1:13-19).
B. People think Jesus was followed by the masses (John 3:19-21; 15:18-25).
1. The majority choose wrongly (Matthew 7:13-14; cf. II Peter 2:1-3).
2. Even the closest disciples failed Him (Luke 22:31-34, Matthew 16:21-
28, Matthew 28:16-17, Mark 16:10-14, and Luke 24:1-11).
C. People think our Lord was crucified by the will of man (Matthew 27:17-26).
1. It was God’s will (Acts 2:22-23).
2. Christ too had a choice in the matter (John 10:14-18).
D. Some have thought Jesus to fear death because of Hebrews 5:7-9 and
Matthew 26:35-45.
1. Reason says, this would have made Jesus a sinner and contradictor
(Luke 12:4-5, Hebrews 13:5-6, Revelation 2:10, and Revelation 21:8).
2. Jesus died to deliver us from the fear of death (Hebrews 2:14-15).
3. Furthermore, Paul would have made a better Savior if Jesus feared
dying, pain, or imprisonment (Acts 20:22-24; 21:10-14).
4. Finally, the statement “save him from death” is clarified in scriptures
(Acts 2:24-32; cf. James 5:20).
III. Conclusion:
A. We need to “get it” (I Corinthians 14:20 and Colossians 1:9-11).
B. The Lamb has two hands, of which are you (Matthew 25:31-46)?
